History Days

History Days and Visiting Workshops

Throughout the year, pupils take part in a range of engaging History Days and visiting workshops, where historical periods are brought to life through immersive, hands‑on experiences. Visitors and specialist providers work alongside pupils to deepen their understanding of key concepts, allowing them to step into the past and experience history in a meaningful and memorable way.

These sessions often include opportunities for pupils to handle artefacts, take part in role play and explore historical viewpoints, helping them to develop a deeper understanding of how people lived and the choices they made. By experiencing history in this way, pupils are able to make stronger connections within their learning and develop greater curiosity about the world around them.

History Days also encourage collaboration, discussion and reflection. Pupils work together, ask questions and explore different perspectives, strengthening their ability to think critically and communicate their ideas.

As a result, pupils develop confidence, curiosity and a growing sense of empathy, recognising how the past shapes the present and understanding their place within a wider story of community and society.
